Picture this, early Sunday morning, in my room, 3 computers, each on separate internet connections, and constantly hitting F5 to refresh a registration screen. That was me 11/04/07.
It was Ironman Florida 2008 registration day. The race sold out in 7 minutes. So call me crazy, but i find it a little strange that one has to go to such great lengths to register for a race to torture themselves for an entire day. Oh, and did I mention the entry fee is $475! Crazy. Anyways, this is how it works:
- 2000 total spots.
- The day before the 2007 race (which was on 11/04/07), registration opens up for that year's present racers to sign up for next year.
- The day after the race, from 9-11AM CST, registration opens up for people AT the local race site.
- Then if there are any spots still left, it opens up to the internet.
But luckily, I'm in!!! Though I'm not quite sure I've fully realized exactly what i've gotten myself into...
